34. Kankerbagh shifting.
Shahnaz used to stay in Road no 11 Rajendra Nagar. Whenever Niamat went out of station on tour she used to come and stay with me. Through a cooperative society of the Bank, a plot of land was allotted to Niamat. With the help of Bank loan she started the construction of her double storied house there. At that point of time it was a lonely area and the bridge connecting it with Rajendra Nagar had also not come up. Only doctor’s colony had come up that side. May God bless Ahsanul Hoda Saheb who donated portion of his own land for the construction of a mosque there which was just across a vacant field. When the mosque came up many Muslims also started shafting in its vicinity. After distributing the plots amongst the bankers two plots inside the allotted land remained unsubscribed. As Niamat was a member of that society, he asked Reyaz to get one plot. Which he eventually did after much indecision. Soon after the purchase of that plot, Reyaz went to Saudi Arabia for service there.
With numerous sacrifices on the part of Shahnaz, her house construction started. Another colleague’s wife Mrs Thakur was her company on the site and they both used to stay under the strong sun and dust for months to supervise it. All this tanned her skin and hands almost black. Finally, with all her hard work and efforts the house construction was completed.
Reyaz used to send money to Ejaz for the construction of his house who was
given the overall responsibility of supervision. The blue print etc was earlier
prepared with the involvement of Shahnaz herself. As Ejaz was having his job to
attend Mahfoozur Rahaman was selected to oversee the progress and
get the materials. Within two years, his house was also completed.
Over five years had passed when Reyaz had gone to Saudi Arabia. Sheeraz
was staying with us and was admitted to Don Bosco School in Patliputra. Mona’s
Papa suddenly passed away in Waltair where his elder daughter Shiela was
living. One day Reyaz called from Saudi that the Kankerbagh house is now ready
and we all should shift there. When I told him that this small house is
sufficient for my requirements, he informed that Mona Was preparing to resign
here and go back to Patna. He also asked me to vacate our own house in Rajendra
Nagar to enable Mona to have her clinic there. Reluctantly I shifted to
Kankerbagh after having a milaad there. Mehar, Ejaz and Salvia were with me.
Within six months Mona also came over. Mona’s mummy who was left alone after
her husband’s death also came to stay together. Haliman Bua had also come back
and was a big help.
